He Yankees right reinstated Cody Poteet from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

In a corresponding move to create room on the 40-man roster, the right-hander Marinaccio Rum – who had been optioned to Triple-A on Sept. 6 – was designated for assignment.

Marinaccio, in his third year with the major league club after being selected in the 19th round of the 2017 draft, appeared in 16 games this season for the Yankees. He pitched to a 3.86 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 23.1 innings of relief. The 29-year-old allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 18 hits and 10 walks with 25 strikeouts.

pot landed on the injured list Marinaccio recovered from a right triceps injury in early June and had been recovering in the minor leagues since late August. After his rehab concluded, he had to return to the 40-man roster, leading to Marinaccio getting caught up in the numbers crunch.

In four starts for the Yankees this year, Poteet, 29, pitched to a 2.14 ERA in 21 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 15 hits with seven walks and 13 strikeouts.

During his six rehab appearances at Double-A and Triple-A, he pitched to a 2.29 ERA in 19.2 innings with 22 strikeouts and five walks.
