According to Down Detector, the problems began yesterday afternoon and continue until this morning. As of 07:00 BST, around 2,000 issues had been logged.
Commentators have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to criticize Yahoo’s response to the outage, claiming it hasn’t been fixed quickly enough.
Of those who reported problems with Yahoo Mail, 77 percent said the problem was with the app, while 13 percent said it was a problem with signing in.
The remaining 10 percent said they were having problems with the server connection.
However, Yahoo says customers should begin regaining access to their accounts throughout the day.
Reports on Down Detector have already fallen from a high of 8,000 at 2pm on Tuesday.
But with the free email service still a popular option for some 225 million monthly users, this issue has caused widespread frustration.
Several irritated users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the outage.
‘Yahoomail IS STILL NOT WORKING WAITING FOR RESULTS AND HOSPITAL APPOINTMENTS. It’s been 24 HOURS NOW and yes I tried clearing the cache and still NOTHING won’t even open,’ expressed one user.
Another added: ‘Is there any chance we can get our @YahooCare emails what’s going on?’

This means that if you do not memorize your account details, you will not be able to access your account when reinstalling.
This could leave users permanently locked out of their email accounts.
Several social media users have already reported that this has happened to them.
One commenter responded to the suggestion writing: ‘It doesn’t work. My pw (password) is not working and the app now says there are no recovery options.’
However, Yahoo has since released a workaround that does not involve uninstalling.
Open your smartphone and long press the app icon.
Click the information icon in the upper right corner to open the app settings.
Next, scroll down to the usage section and storage row, and open it.
Clear cache and clear data, then reopen the app.
Now it should work as usual.
Some users have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling the app has left them locked out of their accounts.
Yahoo customer support shared these instructions for regaining access to your account without having to uninstall the app.
On social media, several users have confirmed that this quick solution has worked for them and that they can now use the application.
However, since the solution was published, social networks have also been filled with users complaining that this method has not worked for them.
One commenter wrote: ‘This doesn’t work. I can’t even log into their website to receive emails that way.’
While another added: “Done that, it didn’t work.” I can’t log in to the website either, the problem is not just the app. I haven’t had access to email since 1:00pm UK time.
However, it is unclear why the fix works for some users and not others, and may be user error.
Yahoo says a fix has been rolled out for the issue, but it could take up to 24 hours to reach your device.
