Xiaomi today launches the 13T and 13T Pro, two smartphones that will benefit from more Android updates than previously offered. Both will receive four major Android updates, as well as five years of security patches, said Xiaomi communications director, Daniel Desjarlais, announced earlier this month.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro will start at £649 (€799, or around $790), while the 13T will start at £549 (€649, or around $669), and both will be available from today in the UK. The phones will primarily be sold in European markets, but based on Xiaomi’s previous smartphone launches, it is unlikely that they will be officially available in the US.
A support commitment of four major Android updates and five years of security patches puts Xiaomi more or less in line with what Samsung promises for its latest Galaxy S23 phones and it’s technically better than the three major Android updates Google offers with its latest Pixels. But there is one important caveat with Xiaomi’s 13T series: they ship with last yearIt has Android 13 out of the box. So at least one of these Android updates will be used to update phones to this year’s Android 14.
Like previous Xiaomi phones, the 13T and 13T Pro once again feature a Leica-branded camera system, although there are fewer hardware updates this time around. There is no one-inch sensor like we saw with the Xiaomi 13 Pro, nor will Xiaomi buyers get a 200-megapixel sensor this time around. (It’s probably for the best.) Instead, on both phones, you get 50-megapixel main cameras with a 1/1.28-inch sensor paired with a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 20-megapixel sensor. frontal camera.
Internally, the Xiaomi 13T Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus processor, while the 13T includes a Dimensity 8200-Ultra. Both have 5,000mAh batteries, but only the 13T Pro can fast charge up to 120W for a full charge in just 19 minutes. (The non-Pro 13T maxes out at 67W).
On the front, both phones have a 6.67-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits (1,200 nits typical), and a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220. Both have IP68 weather resistance ratings. dust and water. although only the 13T Pro supports Wi-Fi 7; the non-Pro 13T is Wi-Fi 6. Both come in blue, green, or black.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro will be available in a few different configurations. Its starting price offers you 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, but there is also a higher model with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage and a third with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The base Xiaomi 13T comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and there is also another version available with 12GB of RAM.
