DownDetector, a site that monitors service outages, shows problems persisting as of around 1 p.m. ET and affecting users in the U.S., U.K., and parts of Europe, Asia, and South America.
Users have cited issues with logging in, connecting to the server, and playing the game.
Social media is ablaze with reactions to the sudden outage, with one user sharing on X that he spent eight hours working hard to get his hands on video games, only to find that Xbox Live was down.

DownDetector problem reports have surpassed 38,000 in the US alone, with players in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other major cities citing issues.
