Real Madrid striker Rodryo is a better player than Bukayo Saka, according to Fulham star Andreas Pereira.

The 28-year-old insisted his Brazil team-mate’s ability to play on the front line is key to distinguishing him from the Arsenal striker.

Pereira, who came through Manchester United’s academy before leaving for the Cottagers in 2022 after a series of loan spells, also presented the 23-year-old’s European Cup victory as further justification for his case.

‘Rodrigo? Are you talking about Real Madrid? Pereira said during a debate on Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE . ‘No, he has won the Champions League.

“Your opinion is different, I really like Saka, he is an incredible player but for me Rodrygo [is better]”He can play in all positions and he plays for Real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in the world at the moment.”

Of the two, Saka has been the more productive player this season, with 31 goals in all competitions to Rodrygo’s 24.

The Gunners star enjoyed a purple patch after the winter break when he scored seven goals in just five league games. Since then, however, Saka has only managed one in five starts.

He managed to score in Arsenal’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Bayern Munich last week. His brilliant finish gave Mikel Arteta’s side an early lead before they fell behind to set up a thrilling second leg in Germany on Wednesday.

Rodrygo also scored seven days ago in a frantic 3-3 draw against Manchester City. His goal took his tally in the competition this season to four.

The Brazil international has made 43 appearances in all competitions this season, the overwhelming majority in the centre-forward position. Madrid travels to Manchester in search of a famous victory that could lead to a semi-final against the Gunners, if they beat Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Rodrygo scored twice in stoppage time to help Madrid advance at the expense of Man City in 2022, before winning the competition against Liverpool.

Madrid will then take on Barcelona in El Clásico on Sunday and will look to open up an 11-point lead over their arch-rivals.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are in danger of having their season unravel. The weekend’s defeat to Aston Villa saw City leapfrog them at the top of the Premier League with just six games left to play.
