She is an Australian pop star who rose to fame after winning The X Factor in 2012.
And now Samantha Jade, 37, has revealed she once auditioned for the Hollywood role – with disastrous results.
The blonde singer said she gave up all hope of a film career after applying for a role against Twilight star Kristen Stewart, 34.
Appearing on the YouTube channel Working with On Wednesday, the Perth-born performer said that after her “terrible” audition she wanted to quit acting for good.
Jade, who was living in Los Angeles at the time, said she was persuaded to audition for the role of real-life rock star Joan Jett in the 2010 biopic The Runaways, a role eventually taken by Stewart.
“So I went in and said, ‘Listen, guys, I know I’m supposed to be an actress, but I’m not that kind of actress, I don’t think I can become a rock chick,'” Samantha said.
‘I went in, auditioned, knew I was terrible, came out and thought it was the worst thing I’d ever done in my life.
“I got a call from my agent, she said, ‘You were the worst audition of the day.’ It was a big scar for me, so after that, every audition I went to I was so nervous, it was terrible.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Samantha said she would like to return to acting and revealed she had a much more successful audition for the 90210 reboot.
Samantha later won an award and a Logie Award nomination for portraying Kylie Minogue in the 2014 rock biopic. INXS: Never tear us apart.
However, she became a real fan favourite on screen for her role in Home and Away playing the character of Isla in 2016.
He also appeared in the acclaimed series Love Child.
This comes after Samantha finished as the runner-up on this year’s Dancing with the Stars after repeatedly turning down an invitation to appear as a contestant.
The singer told Yahoo Lifestyle she turned down the offers because she was “scared.”
“I think I was asked last November and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not sure,’ and then it took me a long time to say yes,” she admitted.
“And my manager was like, ‘What is it? What are you afraid of? What’s going on?’ I think I said, ‘Oh no, I’m not going to be good at that, it’s going to be too hard.'”

“I was putting it in the ‘too hard’ category. And then I thought, why am I doing that? How fun is it to learn a new skill, too?”
Samantha said she finally agreed to do something outside her comfort zone and joined the program.
Samantha rose to fame in 2012 when she won the fourth season of The X-Factor Australia and became the first woman to win the series.
In October 2022, she married her long-time partner, Pat Handlin, in an intimate ceremony in Venice.
