Manufacturer of smart home accessories Wyze has introduced a smart lock that works with customers' existing cylinders. The Wyze Lock costs $ 89, and it will be available for general sale in February. Users in the Early Access program can now order it via the mobile Wyze app.
The lock works with four AA batteries that must be replaced three times a year. It requires that the Wyze Lock Gateway, the Wi-Fi bridge, be connected to a power outlet near the door (within 50 feet) so that users can lock and unlock their doors remotely via the Wyze app. The lock works with both WiFi and Bluetooth, so if the WiFi or power in your home is off, you can still lock and unlock the Wyze Lock automatically when you reach the door via your phone's Bluetooth. It is designed to work with most night shots and it takes around 15 minutes to install. The Wyze Lock is compatible with Alexa, Zigbee and Google Assistant, and a voice unlocking function via Alexa and Google Assistant will arrive in 2020.
The Wyze lock also comes with an optional keypad accessory, which is not yet priced, but it will be available in February. The LED backlit keyboard uses two AA batteries that need to be replaced twice a year and are rain resistant with an IPX5 rating. It is programmable to be hospitable, so users can create time-based codes for one access via the Wyze app.
