- Stone Cold has revealed he is seven weeks post-operative after crucial surgery
- The 60-year-old retired more than twenty years ago due to multiple knee injuries
- Veteran’s last in-ring appearance was at Wrestlemania 38 in 2022
WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has revealed that he recently underwent long-awaited knee surgery.
The 60-year-old remains one of the company’s most iconic stars, despite being forced to retire in 2003 due to multiple knee injuries suffered in the ring.
During the height of his powers, Austin’s signature look included a black knee brace that helped with problems he suffered during his college football days at North Texas State University.
The WWE Hall of Famer suffered an ACL injury in the 1980s, but chose not to undergo surgery due to the strength in his quads and hamstrings at the time.
In October 2024, Austin revealed that he urgently needed surgery as his knee problems had worsened.
When he spoke, he said, “I’m telling you like it is…I’m going to need a new left knee here pretty soon.”

Austin took to Instagram to share cheeky photos before and after his surgery

The WWE legend underwent the procedure, which he admitted he had been putting off for some time
On Tuesday, Austin announced on social media that he is seven weeks post-surgery and is already back in the gym as part of his recovery.
Taking to Instagram, he shared photos of x-rays of his knee before and after surgery, writing: “What it was like. And how it is,
‘I am 7 weeks post surgery for a total knee replacement. My left knee was on its last leg and I have been putting off this surgery for years.
‘The X-rays after the operation show that everything is healing well.’
Austin then thanked his doctors before adding, “Before I started PT, I came out of the gate aggressively and started running way too fast and too far and really coming off my new knee. Total knee replacement is a healing process that takes a year, so I don’t know what I was thinking.
‘The swelling is still a problem, but it is healing nicely and getting firmer. I’m back in the gym and training. Nothing heavy yet. And no squats…
“I have my sights set on racing at The Mint 400 outside Las Vegas, NV in seven weeks with the team and my teammate.”
Austin hasn’t wrestled since his first appearance in nearly two decades at Wrestlemania 38 in 2022.
