WWE legend Hulk Hogan, 70, details addiction to prescription pills following 25 surgeries as now-sober wrestler admits he was ‘like a dog chasing a bone’ getting his fix

WWE legend Hulk Hogan has detailed his addiction to prescription pills after 25 surgeries left him in excruciating agony.

Now sober Hulk, real name Terry Gene Bollea, 70, said muscle and health that he was “like a dog chasing a bone” to get his fix and explains why he no longer drinks alcohol after turning his life around.

He said: “I practiced drinking a lot because I wrestled for about forty years, so these guys have a beer once in a while.

“But about seven months ago I decided not to drink alcohol anymore. I was at a New Years party and saw a bunch of things that I didn’t tolerate or like. I saw myself in that environment and I was like, “You know what? I don’t know how I got here, but I’m done.”

“I was with people who believed and behaved differently than me and I just said, ‘I walked out. It’s much better to be so lucid. I am no longer tempted to drink alcohol.

“I don’t have an addictive personality. I mean, with anything. It could be business or people or alcohol or drugs. When I’m done, I’m done.

He continued, “Some wrestlers looked me in the face and said, ‘If you don’t have a drink with me, you’re not my friend. I said, “Well, I’m your friend, but I’m not going to drink with you. What are you going to do about it?”

“Sometimes wrestlers are a bit intimidating. I have a lot of friends who like to party, but they don’t try to push alcohol on me anymore.

Hulk now credits CBD with helping him find a healthier path after he became too dependent on prescription pills.

He said: ”At first I was confused as I had never used CBD. I didn’t understand the health aspects of what it can do for you in terms of energy, sleep, or slow stopping hard drugs or pharmaceuticals.

“It took me a while to understand, because I’m a bit slow. I had to do a lot of research and due diligence. I thought this was something that would really benefit a lot of people who needed help – and I know it will.

He told Danni Levy: “I was hitting the painkillers hard because I had to have twenty-five procedures, ten of them my back, facials after being kicked, knee and hip replacements and abdominal and shoulder surgeries”

“I was hitting the painkillers hard because I had to undergo twenty-five surgeries, including ten on my back, facial surgeries after being kicked, knee and hip replacements and abdominal and shoulder surgeries .

“There was a period, about five or six years ago, when I was in such crazy pain that I couldn’t even function. When you have back surgery, it takes a good year for your body to recover, yet they cut me every four months.

“I needed painkillers at this point for sure. But once things started to calm down, they continued to give me the same drugs. I got to a point where I had recovered from the tenth back operation and the pharmacy was calling me and saying “your prescription is ready”, and like a dog chasing a bone, I was going to get it .

He added: “Then finally I just looked at myself and said, ‘I’m not in pain. I don’t need this. My body hurts from all the wrestling injuries, but I’m not in this excruciating pain that I can’t live with.”

“But then CBD got me to a place where when I wake up my joints don’t hurt too much. When I’m gaining weights, I don’t need to do four or five sets before things start to become clear.

“I can tell as soon as the CBD hits my system; it calms everything. Inflammation disappeared instantly with CBD. Usually my wrists are swollen like crazy at the end of the day. Now they are fine. I noticed an immediate change as soon as I started.

I’m really focused on helping people with their health, whether they’re guys coming back from war, hardcore drug addicts, or people who have fallen into the prescription trap from illness or anxiety. I actually wish I lost it more slowly, because when your arms are really big and they shrink two or three inches, you have loose skin on them. I didn’t think it would go so fast.

To maintain his impressive package, Hulk trains six days a week at his home gym and sticks to a diet he describes as “very boring”.

“Right now I’m enjoying life on the beach, playing bass for fun when my daughter Brooke comes to visit, working on my cars and partying sober and sober. Life is good !’
