WWE brought together all the stars for their debut show on Netflix, but Monday Night Raw could have also had perhaps its biggest female star of all time.
According Bodyslam.netBecky Lynch was planned to return to WWE after more than six months away, but the plan was canceled at the last minute.
The Man left WWE on June 1, 2024 upon the expiration of his contract and had his last match in May. Since then, he has been taking on different projects, most recently in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2.
WWE brought back many stars for the debut show on Netflix, a deal that earned them $5 billion. The Rock, John Cena and Hulk Hogan were among the names that appeared on the show, as well as the late addition of The Undertaker.
According to the report, The Deadman replaced Lynch in the plans at the end of the day.
Lynch was scheduled to appear at the end of Ripley and Morgan, presumably setting up her WrestleMania plans with the winner.
But the company decided to take advantage of The Undertaker’s moment alongside Ripley, as the WWE Hall of Famer returned as the American Badass and celebrated with the newly crowned champion.
Bodyslam.net reports that Lynch will still return to WWE in the coming weeks and this does not change his direction towards WrestleMania in Las Vegas in April, a direction the report says “will be very clear.”
This is the moment WWE favored Becky Lynch’s return according to the report
Lynch is widely considered the most popular and influential female star in WWE history.
Lynch’s last match in WWE was a title cage match with Morgan on May 27, 2024. Morgan coincidentally lost the title to Ripley on the episode of RAW that Lynch was scheduled to appear on.
If these plans were in the works, it would suggest that Lynch signed a new deal with WWE and ended his sabbatical.
Lynch’s last WWE match at the time of this writing was last May in a steel cage on RAW.
If he returns in the coming weeks, it seems likely that he will enter the Royal Rumble on February 1st.
WWE’s debut on Netflix received mixed reviews with some fans feeling like it was trying hard to advertise to a new audience rather than putting on a true spectacle.
