Hugh Sheridan is known for his Packed to the Rafters, The Real Dirty Dancing and Isn’t It Romantic.

And on Saturday, the Australian actor revealed that he will be directing a semi-autobiographical film about young ballet dancers called The Dance.

The 34-year-old studied ballet throughout his childhood and said he wants to shed light on mental health with the film.

“The plot revolves around a group of young ballet dancers and the paths and trials that confront them with the challenges of living away from home at such a young age and the complexities of friendship versus love,” Hugh said. The Daily Telegraph on weekends.

He added, “I hope it will shine a light on the mental health of young people.”

Hugh had previously attended the Australian Ballet School, but left to act.

To talk with Now to love last year, Hugh candidly revealed that he had struggled with mental health problems in the past.

Growing up in Adelaide, Hugh said moving to finish school in Melbourne was one of the hardest things he had to do.

“I had moments with myself when I was younger and living away from home,” the actor explained. “I moved when I was 16 to finish school in Melbourne and it was probably the hardest I’ve ever had.”

Hugh said at the time that he had burning questions about his career and personal leadership.

“When I was younger, I sometimes wondered where I am going and what I do with my life,” he added.

Hugh said the best way to deal with the problems was to talk to someone.
