Phil Foden has warned England’s rivals that his attacking partnership with Jude Bellingham is about to explode.

The Premier League Player of the Year and Bellingham have arrived in Germany as two of Europe’s most feared attacking talents.

But while Bellingham scored England’s winning goal over Serbia on Sunday night, Foden had less of an impact.

But the Manchester City star insists his on-field partnership with Bellingham will improve.

‘Jude is obviously an exceptional talent. He behaves very well, I think he is becoming a leader,” Foden said.

“I think our connection play is good at times and I think it’s also improving and can continue to improve.”

‘So he’s an exciting talent and I enjoy playing with him. I think the first game of a big tournament is always the most difficult.

“I think it’s important to get a win and we did it.

‘Sometimes it was difficult. “Obviously we had to defend and dig deep at times, but I think that shows a different side of us and if we’re going to win something, I think we have to do it.”

Foden has faced some criticism after his performances against Serbia, with the six-time Premier League champion struggling in a position many believe is out of place.

Under Pep Guardiola, the England star plays his best football in a more central attacking position alongside Kevin de Bruyne, while under Southgate he plays more regularly on the wing.

His best season so far at the Etihad saw him score 27 goals and register 13 assists in all competitions; In the national team, Foden has only managed four goals in 35 international matches.
