The man accused of murdering a 14-year-old boy during the Hainault sword attack is a “mystic” who dressed up as Robin Hood to play archery weeks before the attack.
Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with Daniel’s murder along with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated robbery and possession of a bladed article.
Four other people were injured during Tuesday’s 22-minute attack, including a heroic police officer who almost lost a hand.
Monzo is an amateur musician and self-described “mystic” who dressed up as Robin Hood for a game of archery weeks before the attack.
Flanked by three burly dock officers and a woman, the Spanish-Brazilian national wore a gray prison tracksuit and kept his left hand on his chest throughout the seven-minute hearing.
When asked to confirm his full name, he responded very slowly: ‘My full name? As far as I remember, it’s Marco Aurielo Audini.

Monzo is also accused of breaking into a house where a couple was sleeping with their four-year-old daughter and attacking her father during the rampage, the court heard.
David Burns, prosecuting, said Monzo allegedly drove a van at full speed towards Donato Iwule, who was walking in the street, before exiting the vehicle and slashing him around the neck, leaving him with an injury that required hospital treatment.
Monzo then forced his way into the bedroom of a couple sleeping with their four-year-old son and slashed the father in the neck, the prosecutor said.
Mr Burns said he was shouting: “If you don’t believe in God, he will hurt you.”
The prosecutor added: “He then left the scene and attacked Daniel Anjorin, a schoolboy who was on his way to school.”
It is presumed that he stabbed him in the neck and chest.
The court heard that while officers were treating Daniel’s wounds, Monzo appeared from a bush and attacked a female police officer with the gun while she was on the ground.
A second officer called Moloy Campbell was also injured, the court heard.
District Judge and Senior Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: ‘I am sending your case, all seven charges, to the Central Criminal Court, which you may know as the Old Bailey.’
‘I do not have the power to consider bail. You will therefore be remanded in custody and will appear before the Central Criminal Court on 7 May.

Last year on Boxing Day, he posted another video on the same Instagram page showing him joking around in a Robin Hood costume during an archery competition. He spoke in Portuguese while joking with his friends.
Elsewhere on social media, Monzo describes himself as a “mystic and musician”.
He also presents himself as a director of a London-based company that has now been dissolved.
Daniel was remembered last night as a “true scholar” with a “gentle character”, and his supporters raised more than £28,000. on GoFundMe for a celebration of his life.
The 14-year-old was said to smile every time he entered the room and was described as a “much loved” boy who brought joy to his family and was an “admirable” student at his prestigious independent school. .
Daniel attended Bancroft School in nearby Woodford Green, the £24,999-a-year school, which yesterday flew its flag at half-mast as classmates laid flowers.
His heartbroken parents rely on their deep Christian faith to cope with their deep shock and grief over his murder, family friends revealed.
Bancroft School said on its website: “We are devastated by the heartbreaking news of Daniel’s death. This has left us in deep shock and sadness.
‘He joined Bancroft’s when he was seven years old and quickly became a vital member of our community. He was a true scholar and demonstrated commendable dedication to his academic pursuits.
‘His positive nature and kind nature will leave a lasting impact on us. Losing such a young student is something that will always be difficult for us to accept.” Grace O’Malley-Kumar, 19, the victim of the Nottingham stabbing, had also been a Bancroft pupil.

Aiste Dabasinskaaite revealed how she tried to warn Daniel but it was too late. She said: ‘My instinct was to shout at him and wave at him, which is what myself and another neighbor did, but as he had his headphones on I don’t think he heard us.
“It was kind of a moment where we went from screaming to emptiness, we felt empty.”
Neighbor Sheryl Carter said: ‘I heard a scream coming from (Daniel’s) mother. My neighbor saw her running and the police had to stop her.’

Tributes included a teddy bear and a sign that said ‘RIP Little Angel’ with a love heart.
He heard Mrs. Anjorin say, “I spoke to him just a minute ago.”
His friend Cyan Thompson added: “I can’t believe he’s gone.” He was a good person with good manners.
‘He was very affectionate. You couldn’t help but smile when he entered the room.
Close friends revealed that Daniel’s respected Nigerian parents believe they will be reunited as a family in heaven.
Janti Charalambous and Ade Caxton-Cole have known the Arsenal football fan since he was little.
They explained: “He was a happy child; he brought a lot of joy to his family and they just took his life.”
The couple added: ‘The family is shocked and heartbroken. Such a young child separated from the family.
“Their faith sustains them and we all support them in everything they need.”
