Collingwood premiership hero Tom Mitchell claimed he received special treatment at a hotel because he was mistaken for Magpies teammate Scott Pendlebury.
Mitchell, who has been battling a nagging ankle injury this season, took to social media this week to detail his recent experience at an Adelaide hotel following Collingwood’s Gather Round final win against Hawthorn on Sunday.
“The space I’ve been given on this journey is probably one of the biggest and best I’ve ever had,” Mitchell began in a TikTok post.
“And I think I just found out why.”
Mitchell then pulled out a greeting card for the room’s guest, along with a bottle of wine.

“Dear Scott, We are delighted to welcome you to Peppers Waymouth Hotel,” the letter said.
‘If you need anything during your stay, please contact our friendly reception’
“Best regards, Team Peppers.”
Mitchell believes the excellent service was intended for his teammate, even though the two look nothing alike.
“He was clearly referring to Scott Pendlebury and not Tom Mitchell,” he says at the end of the post.
Collingwood coach Coach Craig McRae knows his team needs to up their game if they are to defend their top spot in the AFL this season after withstanding a strong Hawthorn comeback in a tense five-point win to complete the Gather Round.
The Magpies led by 38 points at half-time but were almost overtaken by the winless Hawks in their 11.11 (77) to 11.6 (72) victory at Adelaide Oval.
A second straight win gave McRae’s team a 2-3 record heading into an early-season bye, after its campaign began with three straight losses.

“We didn’t sit still,” the third-year coach said.
‘We know we need to improve… but today we showed some signs that we probably hadn’t shown in previous weeks.
“We were very good with the ball and some parts of our game seemed very strong in the first half, that’s why we are here with a victory.”
“This week was enough, but we know it’s a four-quarter game and tough competition.” We need to improve.”
