Guy Sebastian has revealed his unique technique to get his kids to stop throwing tantrums.

The Voice Australia coach, 42, shares sons Hudson, 12, and Archie, nine, with wife Jules and has given an insight into his parenting style and family life.

Speaking on KIIS 97.3’s Robin & Kip, Guy revealed the surprising method he used to get his kids to stop throwing tantrums when they were toddlers.

He said he would mimic his son’s tantrums and make them realize how ‘stupid’ they sounded when they ‘blew the air’ and make them stop quickly.

He explained: ‘When they blow up, I would imitate them. So even as a two-year-old or a year-and-a-half old, I think when a kid realizes how stupid they sound when they blow up.

‘It’s worked weird with my kids, like they’d scream and I’d just do the same to them.

‘It’s almost like it was confronting to them so much that they looked at me and just went, is that what I sound like? And then they just wanted to stop’.

Guy also admitted he struggled with ‘dad guilt’ while busy touring and praised his wife Jules for looking after their two sons alone while he was away.

“I’m touring, going away, I’d feel so bad because people would think, oh, I’m playing shows every night, it must be so tiring,” he said.

‘I’m like, no, no, no, no. Jules is like doing all this alone. Yeah, I’m literally playing shows, sleeping in a hotel room, you know, no noise.’

He went on to gulp over his childhood sweetheart Jules, who he married in 2008, describing their relationship as ‘rare’ as he shared how ‘lucky’ he is to have her.

The singer said: ‘We’ve been dating since I was 12 years old, you know, we just know each other, have grown up like we know we have history. It’s never been like a pointe thing.

‘We’ve just been mates who want each other to win. And yes, I am quite lucky because not everyone has that. It’s quite rare, I think.’

Guy was 18 when he first started dating Jules, but they split briefly when he was 21 – before appearing on Australian Idol – before getting back together.

Speaking about their split last year, Guy told Sunrise: ‘I didn’t think we would get back together.

‘I was 18 when we first got together and I think I was 21 (when we broke up) and she kind of broke my heart.’

‘She broke up with me and then Idol happened and I moved to Sydney and I didn’t think we’d get back together, I wasn’t sure.’

They went on to tie the knot eight years later in a romantic ceremony in Manly and welcomed their son Hudson in 2012 and their second child Archie two years later.
