A young woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her teenage sister in the Lake Macquarie region of New South Wales.
Emergency services were rushed to a house in Thurston Street, Boolaroo, at around 3.45pm on Monday following reports of a stabbing.
Paramedics treated a 10-year-old girl at the scene for multiple stab wounds, but were unable to revive her and she died at the scene.
Police arrested a 17-year-old girl at the home.
She was taken to the Belmont police station and is currently assisting with investigations.
It is believed that both girls know each other.
The pair are believed to be sisters, the Daily Telegraph reported.
A crime scene has been established as investigations continue.
