Queen Mary and King Frederick joined Queen Margaret in Fredensborg today ahead of her birthday celebrations, after they appeared to be cold towards each other on a family ski trip over Easter.

The royal couple, Queen Margaret and her sister, Princess Benedikte, posed outside the royal residence alongside Margrethe’s beloved dachshund, Tilia, who was also present.

The family celebrated privately at Fredensborg Castle, a setting used for important family events such as weddings, silver weddings and birthdays.

Mary, 52, put her best fashion foot forward and opted for a baby blue jacket, along with a brooch, which she fastened to the left of her chest.

She opted for navy suit pants and a blouse, along with matching pointy heels and slid her brunette locks into a practical ponytail.

The new Queen looked elegant, opting for simple dangling diamond earrings and opting to wear natural makeup today.

Princess Benedikte also donned a blue blouse and printed knee-length skirt along with a modest jacket and matching pearl jewelry.

Margrethe cut a sophisticated figure as she sported a matching navy jacket with a conservative midi skirt.

The first was paired with a red and white printed blouse, which she tucked into the skirt and completed the look with black heels with buckles.

King Frederik, 55, looked dapper in a charcoal gray checkered suit which he paired with a crisp white shirt and polished brown shoes.

The couple, who assumed the Danish throne in January, stood side by side, with Mary’s hands at her sides and Frederick’s behind her back before waving to a crowd of royal fans.

The monarch opted for a sapphire blue tie, matching the same color scheme as his wife, in a show of sartorial solidarity amid rumors of marital strife in recent months.

In November 2023, photographs of Crown Prince Federico enjoying an evening with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casnova caused a stir in Denmark.

In the photos, the royal and the billionaire Duchess of Alba’s former daughter-in-law are seen walking through Madrid before heading to her apartment building, changing clothes and heading out again for the night.

The publication of the photos caused Genoveva, 47, to issue a statement denying any type of romantic relationship between her and royalty and criticizing the “malicious” rumors.

In recent weeks, Queen Mary has fueled rumors by completing a series of solo royal engagements without her husband.

On April 3, the mother of four attended the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the National Guard at the Freedom Museum in Copenhagen.

Four days later, Queen Mary completed another solo engagement when she attended the opening of a deer park in Naerum.

On April 9, Queen Mary again left without her husband to attend a charity conference in Copenhagen.

King Frederick and Queen Mary’s agendas appeared to overlap slightly earlier this month when they hosted different guests at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

Last Friday, the Danish Royal Family’s official Instagram account shared two posts detailing Frederik and Mary’s separate engagements.

The same day, photographs emerged from the couple’s ski trip to Switzerland, which did little to quell rumors of difficulties between the couple.

The couple was very cold towards each other during a trip in March to Verbier, an exclusive ski resort in Switzerland.

Mary, 52, seemed impatient with Frederik, 55, as she turned her back on him as they prepared to hit the slopes.

The photos show Mary, who was the epitome of ski chic in a Moncler wool and cashmere jacquard turtleneck, looking away from her husband as he stood defiantly with his hands on his hips.

The couple were joined by their four children, Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Elizabeth, 16, and 13-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
