A Slovenian hotel has decided to auction off Cristiano Ronaldo’s bed after his visit to Ljubljana last week.

Ronaldo traveled to the Slovenian capital for a friendly Portugal played against the Central European country on March 26 ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

He stayed at the Grand Plaza Hotel with the rest of the Portuguese team and a spokesperson has now confirmed that the bed he slept in will be auctioned off for charity.

“Since this was a pretty special and unique event, we decided to prepare a unique surprise that all fans can participate in,” they said.

“We don’t know when we will have the opportunity to welcome Ronaldo back to Slovenia.

‘In a special auction we will offer in our house the bed in which the star Cristiano Ronaldo slept. We wish everyone good luck and a successful participation in the event.’

The starting bid will be set at €5,000 (£4,300), with the hotel teaming up with media company POP TV to get the best possible value for the bed Ronaldo occupied just a few days ago.

Outside the hotel, things did not go as planned for Ronaldo and company as they suffered their first defeat under Roberto Martínez.

The former Belgium, Everton and Wigan manager took charge of the Portuguese national team after the 2022 World Cup and had led his team to 11 consecutive victories, but were defeated by Slovenia 2-0 thanks to goals in the last 20 minutes by Adam Cerin and Timi Elsnik.

Ronaldo stormed off the field at the final whistle after appearing upset at decisions that went against his team during the match.

Portugal is still set to enter the Euro as one of the favourites, eight years after winning the tournament by beating hosts France in the final.

Slovenia’s impressive victory was also a warning for England as the two teams meet in their final group match on June 25.
