Six young women described by a witness as “teenage-like” and a man have been arrested after a stolen Porsche crashed in one of Australia’s wealthiest suburbs.
Police were called at 4.40am to a house on Lalchere St, Curl Curl on Sydney’s northern beaches following reports of a burglary.
Upon arrival they were told that a Porsche Cayenne SUV had been stolen.
“A short time later, officers on patrol in Balgowlah located and attempted to stop the vehicle (but) it failed to stop and a pursuit began,” a police spokesperson said.
The SUV then crashed into a concrete barrier on Spit Road in Mosman, where some of Australia’s richest people live.
A witness told 2GB’s Ben Fordham that when he drove by shortly after the accident, “it looked like it was all girls sitting in the ditch, handcuffed… young girls.”

The police spokesman said no one was injured in the accident, but that “six women and one man, of unknown ages, were arrested and taken to Manly and Chatswood police stations.”
One witness, Adam, said: “The Porsche was kind of swerving in the center lane and it looked like it was standing there…
“It looked like they had spun around, like they had lost control or something. There were four police cars blocking both lanes.
He said the young women looked like “teenagers.”
“It seemed a little strange to walk by and see a group of girls in the sewer.”
Two of the three southbound lanes on Spit Road, which links Sydney’s north shore to the northern beaches, were closed after the accident.
The car has since been removed and the road has been fully reopened.
Photographs from the scene show that the Porsche’s airbags were deployed and that the right front wheel arch and bumper were damaged.
Residents of Balgowlah reported being woken up by the sound of police sirens around 4.50am.
