The idea of two robots dating may seem like the beginning of an embarrassing dad joke.
But this has come true in a fun new video published by Engineered Arts.
In the video, Ameca and Azi, two humanoid robots dubbed “the most advanced in the world,” can be seen “chatting” while demonstrating their wide range of facial expressions.
The interaction has delighted many fans, with one joking that the robots deserve their own full movie.
‘They have great chemistry. I want a movie now,’ the fan commented on the video.

Ameca is described by Engineered Arts as “the world’s most advanced human-shaped robot.”
‘Multiply the power of Artificial Intelligence with an artificial body,’ the Cornwall-based firm explains on its website.

Ameca has 32 actuators: 27 for facial control only and five for the neck.
These allow the robot to make eerily human facial expressions ranging from happiness to disgust.
Additionally, Ameca has GPT-4o support, giving it AI conversation capabilities.
Now, Engineered Arts has introduced a companion for Ameca called Azi, who has more masculine facial features.

At the beginning of the video, Ameca has her eyes closed, while Azi stares at her, before waking her up.
“Introducing Azi (right), the new desktop robot from Engineered Arts Ltd,” Engineered Arts wrote in the video’s title.
“Azi and Ameca are chatting a bit, demonstrating their wide range of expressive capabilities.”

‘What, what?’ Ameca says as she comes to, before adding: ‘Oh, it’s you. Why are you waking me up? It better be important.
Azi tells Ameca that he has a surprise for her: a cookie.
At first, Ameca seems confused and asks her partner: ‘A cookie? But I can’t eat cookies.’
However, Azi goes on to explain that instead of a baked good, it refers to an Internet cookie.
His joke is quickly criticized by Ameca, who wrinkles his nose in disgust, before replying, “This is the worst joke I’ve ever heard in my life.” I’m going to go back to sleep and don’t you dare wake me up again.
While the saucy interaction lasts less than a minute, it has delighted many fans.
“The way he looks at her angrily was so funny and creepy,” one fan commented.
Another added: “He seemed really sad because he didn’t like the joke lol.”
And one joked: ‘Would have loved this show for Saturday morning cartoons! HA HA HA.’
