Val Thorens in France has been named “World’s Best Ski Resort” for 2024 by the World Ski Awards.
The prestigious award was obtained following votes cast by ski industry professionals and ski consumers, who also nominated their favorite hotels, chalets and freestyle resorts.
Val Thorens, which at 2,300 m (7,545 ft) is the highest ski resort in Europe, is recognized for “setting the world standard for lift infrastructure, resort facilities and on-piste accommodation.”
The elevated French resort’s image is further polished by a hotel there, Le Pashmina, which won the “World’s Best Boutique Ski Hotel” award.
The awards highlighted its “exquisite facilities and direct access to the ski slopes.”
Organizers said that “Switzerland’s reputation as a global leader in hospitality has been reinforced with wins in two key categories” with the W Verbier taking the award for “World’s Best Ski Hotel” and the Chalet Zermatt Peak in Zermatt winning proclaims “Best ski chalet in the world.”
Switzerland also takes victory in the ‘Best Freestyle Resort in the World’ category, with LAAX at the top of the podium.
Ski Dubai is hailed as the “World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort.”
