WorldPride Domain Dance Party: Revelers in sassy outfits kick off for more post-Mardi Gras action

WorldPride celebrations began for thousands of scantily clad revelers who flocked to a star-studded outdoor dance event the day after Sydney’s Mardi Gras.

Sunday’s Domain Dance Party was one of the biggest events of the two-week festival celebrating all things LGBTQIA+.

Appropriately themed as ‘Summer Sweat’, revelers at Sydney’s Domain donned colourful, spicy and bold attire as they soaked up the sun.

But after a long day of partying at the seven-hour dance party headlined by American superstar Kelly Rowland and local talents DJ Suri, Isis Muretech and DJ Du Jour, some took a new approach to cool off.

A young woman was caught wandering into a public water fountain before being helped out of the water by her mates.

The crowd donned casual clothing in keeping with the Mardi Gras and WorldPride tradition

Others, looking a little worse as the warm summer day turned to night, plopped down on the cool grass and fell asleep on park benches.

The party started at 3 pm while the sun was still setting and ended at 10 pm.

Police with sniffer dogs lined the entrances while ticket holders lined up for the action.

The audience donned plain and unique clothing and no outfit was too outrageous or colorful for the occasion.

Last night, Sydney’s Oxford Street was awash in glitter as more than 300,000 revelers celebrated Mardi Gras – the crown jewel of the WorldPride program.

NSW Police, who marched several officers at the Mardi Gras parade, praised the event, saying that the spectators were generally well behaved, with only four arrests and a few officers suffering minor injuries during the night.
