Two women bravely showed it all on today’s episode of This Morning to share their love of gardening in the buff for World Naked Gardening Day tomorrow.
Claire Howard, from Oxfordshire, and Kendall Platt, from Hampshire, both told presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that they like to get in touch with nature and regularly take off their gear while pruning.
Claire, a breast cancer survivor, said her illness, which resulted in a mastectomy, had to hug her body.
Kendall, who gardens consciously, added that she can’t go all out because her yard is overlooked by neighbors – including an elderly couple and teenagers.
Viewers enjoyed the segment, but few said they would be persuaded to try nude gardening for themselves.
Two women showed it all on This Morning, ahead of World Naked Gardening Day. Kendall Platt, in the photo, said it was about reconnecting with nature
Not everyone was convinced by the segment, as some said they didn’t see the point of gardening in the buff
Claire, who lives with her husband and has no children, said: I have always loved taking off my kit and when the sun is shining I like to garden naked outside.
“It’s just embracing to feel the sun on your back and rub against the plants,” she added.
However, she admitted that the practice could be dangerous at times and that she got stabbed on her buttocks a few times.
“I added the strange accident when I was stung, but that’s one of the dangers of gardening,” she said.
Claire Howard, from Oxfordshire, pictured, said she always loved taking off her kit and loved feeling the sun on her skin in the summer
She reflected on her breast cancer diagnosis and said how it prompted her to hug her body even more.
‘I’ve always been fairly confident, but breast cancer and a mastectomy made me realize it doesn’t matter what you look like. You have to embrace life and live it every day, and if it helps other people who have cancer, then it’s all fine, ‘she said.
Meanwhile, Kendal Platt said she also loves to indulge among her plants, but can’t always fully embrace her hobby.
“I’m overlooked in my garden, so I’m participating in World Naked Gardening Day,” she said. ‘But the rest of the year, of course not in the winter but in the summer, when the sun is shining, I garden in my bikini.
I wouldn’t want to make other people uncomfortable, and I feel like Claire, I like the feeling of the sun on my skin, ‘she added.
Claire and Kendall, bottom left and right, told presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond that they would be attending the nude gardening celebration tomorrow.
‘I help other women by teaching them how to garden with care. For me it’s about connecting with Mother Nature and connecting with myself and my body and integrating myself with nature. ‘
Tried by Dermot, Claire revealed that her husband, who was ‘very different’ from her, didn’t like gardening in the buff.
“He’s not one to take off his clothes like I do,” she said, adding, “he always complains that too many flies are flying around.
Kendall encouraged others to join in the fun tomorrow by saying, “You don’t have to go the whole pig if you don’t want to.
She encouraged people to ‘prune some plants, sow some seeds in the buff’ and ‘to get out into nature and enjoy that connection and slow down,’ she said.
While the two women looked perfectly comfortable, This Morning viewers weren’t sold on the idea of taking off their gear in the yard.
While some viewers said they loved Alison Hammond’s enthusiastic ‘let’s just get naked’, some said they wouldn’t participate and keep their clothes on tomorrow.
But why would you want to garden naked? Bending over to show your naked a ** to the neighbors sounds like a lot of fun, ‘one of them asked.
“Hell, my poor neighbors would like to go back to isolation if I got my stuff in the yard,” said another.
But some people enjoyed the interview and even said they would participate with Claire and Kendall.
‘Everyone get naked, just get naked. love Alison so much she’s hilarious, ‘one of them said.
World Naked Gardening Day takes place in Scotland! My husband braves the weather, it is very cold in the backyard, but he has decided to ‘hold it,’ wrote another.
