Brazil managed to retain Group G’s top spot with one moment of brilliance as well as a brilliant defensive performance. Portugal, however, was led by Bruno Fernandes and not Cristiano Ronaldo. Portugal won its second round of the tournament.

BRAZIL BRILLIANCE

Casemiro was just too kind to share this.🔥🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/Ahz1eqlLAq

Casemiro’s goal came minutes after Vinícius Júnior’s goal was disallowed due to Richarlison being in an offside position in the buildup to the goal.

Vinicius Junior was not given credit for Casemiro’s goal assist, but he was there right before the final pass.

Brazil’s attack was searching for a breakthrough but Alisson’s back line made it very simple in the net. The Swiss were playing without Xherdan Shahiri, and the Brazilian goalkeeper didn’t see a single shot.

Switzerland is still in a good position to progress to the round 16, despite Serbia and Cameroon playing to a draw Monday.

Serbia came alive right before the halftime whistle with a goal each from Strahinja Pavlović and Sergej Milinković-Savić. Aleksandar Mitrović added to Serbia’s goal haul with a 53rd-minute strike.

Uruguay tried to get back in the contest after the opening goal, but was unsuccessful with the only shot that hit the post concerning Portugal.

Uruguay needs to beat Ghana on Friday, and Portugal must help South Korea against South Korea in order to reach the 16th round.

Ghana jumped from last to 2nd in Group H, winning 3-2 against South Korea. The win was fuelled by Mohamed Kudus’ brace.

Kudus’ second goal was the answer to South Korea’s attacking flurry. Cho Guesung scored a pair of goals in the 58th, and 61st minutes respectively to erase the two-goal advantage that the Ghanaians had in the first period.

To be able to enter the round, Ghana must beat Uruguay.

Portugal is currently dealing with injuries and could rest players to avoid yellow card against South Korea. Two yellow cards can result in a one-game suspension World Cup.

Portugal should still be aiming for the top spot of Group H, as the second-placed team will likely face Brazil in round 16. Portugal would prefer to beat South Korea, and face Switzerland or Serbia.
