A manhunt has been launched for a man caught on CCTV dancing in a suburban street after a teenage jogger was sexually assaulted in broad daylight.

The young woman was jogging along Whitehorse Road, Blackburn, in Melbourne’s east, at about 11.10am on August 26 when she was approached by an unknown man.

Police believe he sexually assaulted her when she tried to pass him and fled the scene on foot.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man dressed in high visibility gear who they would like to speak to in connection with their enquiries.

Security cameras showed the man walking down a Melbourne street shortly after the woman was sexually assaulted.

He then began dancing nervously on the sidewalk and grabbed a basketball from behind a building.

The man is described as having a thin build, brown eyes and dark curly hair.

He was carrying a red basketball.

The woman was not injured during the assault.

Investigations continue.
