The word for Tuesday’s puzzle was “corer,” which means “a person or thing that disheartens.”

“End of 94 day winning streak,” one angry player wrote on Reddit, while another added: “168 day winning streak gone down the drain.”

“That’s not a word we use where I’m from,” someone else fumed.

“Ridiculous,” read a fourth comment. A fifth said: “RIP to all the streakers today.”

“Today is disgusting,” criticized another user.

“I didn’t even think this was a word, it was just pure luck that I found this one,” someone else confessed.

Another heartbroken player wrote: “I was only two games away from hitting 100 on my streak.”

“I lost my two-week streak because of a word I’d never heard before,” one comment read.

Wordle was inspired by the color matching game Mastermind and provides feedback to each guess in the form of colored tiles that indicate the letters are in the word or in the correct position.

It was created by Josh Wardle and released in 2021, and by January 2022, over two million people had played the game daily.

Later that month, the New York Times purchased the game for “an undisclosed seven-figure price” and its popularity has only grown since then.

CBS previously reported that Wordle will be played 4.8 billion times during 2023.
