One man is in custody while another fights for his life after a shooting sent a semi-rural community into lockdown.
Emergency workers rushed to the scene at Wooroloo, 55km east of the Perth CBD, around 9am on Saturday following reports that a man in his 30s had been shot in the the head.
Residents were warned to stay indoors and lock their doors while specialist officers responded to the incident and subsequently arrested another man, who is currently being questioned.
Police have since confirmed there is no longer an immediate threat to public safety.
Police rushed to the scene in Wooroloo following reports that a man had been shot.
Inspector Vic Hussey said the Tactical Response Group and police dog unit had attempted to track down other men believed to be involved.
“Regarding the other individuals who fled into the bush, their whereabouts are still unknown at this stage, but we firmly believe that there is no threat to the community from these individuals,” he said.
No charges have been filed at this time.
Inspector Hussey said he could not confirm whether the victim and the man currently in custody knew each other.
“There are a lot of moving parts in this investigation right now,” he said.
“So I cannot make any comment on this.”

Paramedics attended to the injured man’s injuries and a rescue helicopter transported him to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.
He remains in intensive care.
A significant police presence remains in the area, including several specialist units.
Officers are searching the area for people believed to be involved in the terrifying incident.
Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the police on triple-0.
