A Woolworths employee has shared the controversial way he takes revenge on rude customers by making them pay more for their groceries.
Footage uploaded to TikTok shows the Woolworths employee, believed to be from a store in Perth, pressing the product scale while processing groceries.
“POV: Putting my hand on the scale to add extra weight to rude customers’ fruits and vegetables,” he captioned the clip.

By adding extra weight, rude customers or “Karens” may be able to pay more for their products than shoppers who are deemed polite.
The TikTok user then clarified in the video’s caption: “For legal reasons, this is a joke.”
However, store staff flocked to the post and confessed to using the controversial act when dealing with difficult customers.
“Everyone in service is doing this, that’s how we get back to Karens without losing our job,” one wrote.
“Sneaky putting my water bottle on the scale,” commented another.
“Don’t tell them our secrets,” added a third.
Others revealed that they use a similar trick for “nice” customers, but instead chose to make items weigh less or purposely skip some products at checkout.
Woolworths said it was concerned about TikTok and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the video
“I try to make it lighter for nice customers… I then try to position the bag so they don’t all get weighed or I hold the bag with the bag up while weighing (it’s easier if it’s not in a bag) sitting),’ said one person.
“I don’t scan items if they are decent,” added another.
Woolworths said it is concerned about the TikTok and is currently investigating.
“We set clear positions for our team members through our code of conduct,” says the supermarket giant.
“We are concerned to see this and will investigate the circumstances surrounding this video.”
