A Woolworths deli worker has mentioned nine things that ‘bother’ her about ‘rude’ customers.
While at work, he “grinds his gears” when shoppers order just before closing time, ask for ‘freshly cut ham’ and talk on the phone while you’re at the counter.
“I’ve worked at the deli for almost six years,” the woman said in a series of TikTok videos.
“And these are just some of the things customers do that make my gears grind.”
A Woolworths spokesperson commented on the video, telling Daily Mail Australia that it is disappointing.
“This is a bit disappointing to see, and we will follow up with the team member,” the spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
The Woolworths deli worker shared the confessions in a series of TikTok videos
In two videos, he listed each point and explained his reasoning, with some of the confessions deemed controversial.
1. When customers get their kids to do the talking for them
First, the clerk claims that it annoys her when parents allow their children to order from the deli, leaving the staff member to talk to the child.
“Now this bothers me for many reasons because you’re not just making your son uncomfortable, you’re making me uncomfortable,” the TikToker said.
‘Cause I can’t hear a damn word your son is saying, the boy doesn’t want to talk to me. It’s just annoying.
2. Want sliced ham just before closing
The worker then targeted shoppers requesting sliced ham just before the store was about to close.
“The audacity of some clients,” he said.
‘They come in five minutes before we close and say ‘Can I have 500g of this?’ And there’s only 100g in the bowl, and they’re like, ‘Can you make me some more?’
3. Talk on the phone
The worker also finds it rude that customers talk on the phone while ordering at the deli and claims she has been “shut up” multiple times.
Talking on the phone when they get to the deli, then shushing you when you ask if they’re ready or when you say hello. No,’ she said.
‘Or even worse, when they answer the phone in the middle of the order and then when you ask ‘Anything else?’ they will shut you up… even though they answered the phone halfway through the order. Can’t.’

A Woolworths spokesperson commented on the video, telling Daily Mail Australia that “it’s disappointing to see it”.
4. When you greet them and they ignore you
The worker also claims that customers have ignored her when greeting them at the counter, which she considers “very rude”.
‘So you’re like ‘Hey, how are you?’ And they just… or they start ordering right away, I don’t say hello back, no, how are you doing?’ she said.
‘Or they just ignore you and keep looking.
‘And I stand there and say, ‘Hello?’ Most of the time I just go ‘Oh, are you just looking?’ and go away because it is very rude!
5. When they yell at you
Not only have they silenced her, but she claims that she has also been yelled at on occasion.
‘When they come up and have been there for 0.2 seconds and say ‘Hello?’ And yell at you? Oh, don’t even test me,’ the clerk said.
6. Ask for freshly cut ham
Despite offering sliced ham in the deli display, the worker claims that the customer always requests that the cured meat be “freshly cut.”
“So you just cut up some ham, you put it in the cabinet,” the Woolies worker said in the second of her controversial videos.
‘The customer shows up: ‘Can I have 500 g of that ham?’ Yes, sure. ‘But can you cut it fresh for me?’
‘(I tell them I) just did it five minutes ago. (And they say) ‘Yeah, but I like it sliced fresh.’
‘I can’t tell you how much that irritates me. Or when they say: ‘Can you give me that ham, but can you cut it thicker or thinner?’
‘I like it, I understand it, but I don’t. For.’
7. Breaking a piece because it is 5g above the requested weight
On occasions, the worker attends to ‘picky’ customers who demand the exact weight they ask for,
When they are so demanding. Like, I get it if you go from 100 g or 200 g. But when they go from 5g to 10g and they say ‘Hmmm, a little less’. And you have to break the ham,’ she said.
‘Like if you take away a slice of ham, it’s too much. So you have to break a piece.
‘I’m like, it’s literally like 5 cents extra. Know?’
8. Kids yell at you for smiley fritz
Smiley fritz is a classic Australian snack, and the Woolies worker says she’s been yelled at by kids and parents alike for some.
‘Now this one gets me, because as a person who isn’t a child… I really don’t like children. I’m not a kid person at all,’ he said.
‘So when they yell at you ‘Can I have a smiling piece of fritz? Can I have a smiling piece of fritz?
‘I just want to say, ‘No. No, You can not. And her parents just yell at you, and I mean yell. And you just think, ‘What’s going on here?’
9. When they tell you to choose ‘any ham’
Lastly, he is also annoyed when buyers ask him to choose a ham at the counter from all the variety available.
‘This one really gets me. When they order and say, ‘Can I have $2 of any ham?’ the worker said.
‘And I’m like, there’s like a wide variety here. I say ‘There are some here’ and they say ‘Yeah, whatever you think of.’
‘I really hate that because I don’t know what you like. We could like completely different things. Then what do you want?! I don’t want to choose for you!
It happens too often.
Despite the unbelievable claims, other deli workers on TikTok agreed with her.
‘I work at the deli in Coles and 1000% yes! Also, my co-workers and I constantly laugh at the fact that there are two types of customers,’ wrote one in the comments of the video.
‘THIS. And when they start yelling at you about the prices of something in a completely different department. Does it look like I did that?’ said another.
