Earlier this month, millions of people in parts of the country noticed the cost of iceberg lettuce has risen to more than $12.
The huge price increase is likely due to inflation and the rising cost of living.
The clever video sheds light and adds humor to the dire situation, with lettuce being seen as a ‘luxury’ supermarket item.
The video has since been viewed more than 809,000 times and many described the TikTok duo as “rich.”
In the comments, other TikTok users added their own flair to the joke by giving other expensive vegetable designer names.
‘You forgot the Gucci Zucchini,’ one person wrote, another added, ‘They sell them at Tiffany’s now.’
A third said, “Omg, but to me it’s more Lermes than Lettuce Vuitton.”
Another person said he started growing his own lettuce at home for a cheaper alternative.
