Man accused of ransacking Woolies store over company’s decision not to stock Australia Day merchandise faces long delay in case due to non-disclosure of medical records .

Travis Matthew Profke was not required to attend Brisbane Arrest Court when his case was briefly discussed on Wednesday morning.

The 40-year-old initially blamed an “out-of-body experience” for the alleged damage to a Woolworths store in the inner Brisbane suburb of Tenerife in early January.

He is accused of setting off a flare at the door and spray-painting “5 days January 26th Aussie Oi Oi Woolies F*** U” and “boycott Woolies” on the front of the store.

Mr. Profke’s lawyer, Hugh Stitt, requested a six-week adjournment during Wednesday’s brief hearing.

Travis Profke (pictured) has blamed an “out-of-body experience” for allegedly defacing a Brisbane Woolworths over the company’s decision not to stock merchandise for Australia Day.

He said Mr. Profke’s medical records, including the release of his hospital records, were still pending.

The court was told the case conference could take place at the Arrest Court to avoid further delay if the matter was remitted to the Brisbane Magistrates Court docket.

Mr Profke’s bail was continued and the case will return to the Arrest Court on May 1.

Mr Profke faces three counts of intentional damage caused by graffiti and two counts of willful damage.

Police allege he defaced a Woolworths store on Commercial Rd in Teneriffe on January 15, by spray-painting a message to boycott Woolworths on the store front and setting off a flare, which triggered the alarm building fire.

The alleged attack was filmed on CCTV and made public by police.

The other intentional damage charges made by Mr Profke relate to allegations of vandalism at other properties in Cleveland and Victoria Point days before the Teneriffe store was allegedly targeted.

Profke allegedly set off a flare at the door and spray painted “5 days Jan 26 Aussie Oi Oi Woolies F*** U” and “boycott Woolies” on the store front in Teneriffe (pictured).

In an interview with 7 News, Mr Profke said the alleged incident was an “out-of-body experience” and expressed remorse, but stood by his message to Woolworths over its decision regarding Australia Day merchandise.

“It was not a conscious episode,” Mr. Profke said.

“That was not the right way to do it.”

Under his bail conditions, he is prohibited from going within 50 meters of a Woolworths store.

Woolworths sparked national outrage after announcing it was dropping its Australia Day-themed products from stores, including Big W, earlier this year.

The company said the “gradual decline” in demand for the merchandise over the years was behind the decision, as well as a “broader discussion” about the Jan. 26 date and “what that means » for different parts of the community.
