A woman who became pregnant when she was 14 has opened up about the cruel comments she receives from critics who call her a ‘whore’ and accuse her of ‘promoting teenage pregnancy.’
Alex Yetter, 22, from Oregon, has more than 100,000 followers on TikTok, where she documents her life as a real estate agent and single mother to her seven-year-old son Milo.
The content creator reflected on what it’s like to be a teenage mother in the latest episode of Truly My Extraordinary Family seriessaying their journey has been a “wild rollercoaster.”
“When I found out I was pregnant, I definitely felt terrified,” she said. ‘I don’t feel like I was able to enjoy my pregnancy as a teenage mother because it was something I hid and I was very afraid to tell people. “There was a lot of shame around it.”

The single mother said her seven-year-old son, Milo, has made her “more motivated” and she has no regrets about how her life turned out.
Alex was just 14 when she became pregnant and remembers how her classmates would insult her and spread ‘horrible rumors’ about her.
Alex recalled how her parents, Matthew and Sara, were “quite disappointed” when she told them she was pregnant at 14.
“I don’t think anyone was prepared for that,” he said. “You’re never prepared to tell your parents that you’re pregnant at 14, and you’re never prepared to hear that your 14-year-old daughter is pregnant.”
Looking back, Alex’s mother said she could “have been a lot more understanding” but feared her daughter was repeating her mistakes.
“Being a teenage mother, I felt like a failure,” Sara admitted. ‘It really affected me a lot. “If I could go back, I would definitely change my reaction.”
Alex said she faced “a lot of judgment” after discovering she was pregnant. Her classmates insulted her and spread “horrible rumors” about her.
After giving birth to Milo, she left public school and began taking online classes while working toward her diploma.
“The first year of motherhood for me was definitely difficult,” she said. “I was 15. At 15 you don’t even know how to drive.”
However, his mother proudly noted that she was a committed mother from the beginning and said that she “did everything for Milo.”
Looking back, Alex’s mother said she could “have been a lot more understanding” but feared her daughter was repeating her mistakes.
‘Being a teenage mother myself, I felt like a failure. It really affected me a lot. “If I could go back, I would definitely change my reaction,” Sara (pictured with Alex) admitted.

‘You got up with him. You took care of him. “You were a very independent mother,” she told her daughter.
‘I think being young mothers has brought us together in some way because we are almost like sisters. We grew up together,” Alex said of her relationship with her mother.
At 18, she graduated from high school and moved into her own home with Milo, who was three years old at the time.
“Having Milo at such a young age definitely made me more motivated because I wanted to be able to provide him with a good life,” she said.
‘I’m a real estate broker. I would say I am successful. Am I where I want to be? Probably not. “I think there’s always room to grow.”
Alex didn’t talk about Milo’s father, but noted that he disagrees with people who tell him he needs to lower his standards because he has a son.
“If you’re a single mom, you should have higher standards,” she said. ‘Why would you lower your standards when you have children? That doesn’t make any sense.
Sara proudly described Alex as a committed mother from the beginning, saying that she was the one who would pick up Milo and take care of him.
At 18, Alex graduated from high school and moved into his own home with Milo, who was three years old at the time.

“A lot of the most positive comments are from people just proud of me for being a good mother, for giving Milo a good life,” she said. “I really thrive on it.”
Alex posts videos about her life on social media to encourage other single mothers to build the life of their dreams, but that has also made her a target for online trolls.
‘YOI have received tens of thousands of hate comments that are quite brutal. Honestly, most of them just call me a whore,” she explained.
‘People will say, “How dare you promote teenage pregnancy?” I never. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone and would never promote it. I totally think you should wait until you get married.
“A lot of the most positive comments are from people just proud of me for being a good mother, for giving Milo a good life,” she added. “I really enjoy that and I don’t pay any attention to the negative.”
Alex described having a seven-year-old son at his age as fun and noted that he has no regrets about how his life ended.
“I feel like my life is so much better with Milo than without him,” she said. ‘I couldn’t imagine it any other way. ‘
