A woman was seriously injured in a crash in Queens on Monday after the driver of the car she was traveling in lost control and crashed into a garage, police said.
The 71-year-old driver was trying to park the Tesla near the corner of 192nd Street and 46th Avenue in Auburndale when it sped off around 6:25 p.m., police and sources said.
The vehicle brushed against a parked car before pulling out a stop sign and onto a sidewalk, police sources added.
Once over the curb, the car went through a fence and struck a detached garage.
The driver suffered minor injuries, but his 42-year-old passenger was seriously injured.
She was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was treated later Monday night.
There were no other cars involved in the crash.
