Woman sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering her sister’s boyfriend so she could marry their father
A North Carolina woman has been sentenced to up to 40 years in prison for the murder of her younger sister’s boyfriend so the sibling could marry their father as part of a twisted torture and incest plot.
Anna Marie Choudhary, 33, of Boone, was convicted Wednesday in McDowell County Circuit Court for her guilty plea in January to second-degree murder in the 2019 death of John Thomas McGuire.
The body of McGuire, 38, of Owatonna, Minnesota, was found months later in a grave in the now-former residence of Choudhary’s father, Larry Paul McClure Sr, in the McDowell County community of Skygusty, West Virginia.

Choudhary’s sister, McGuire’s girlfriend Amanda Naylor McClure (left), 31, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in October 2020. The sisters’ father, Larry McClure, 55 (right), was sentenced to life in prison last year
McGuire was tied up, injected with homemade methamphetamine, beaten, tortured, and eventually strangled
McClure, 55, of Kentucky, was sentenced to life in prison last year with no possibility of parole for first degree murder.
Choudhary’s sister, McGuire’s girlfriend Amanda Naylor McClure, 31, from Minnesota, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter in October.
McGuire’s mother, Karen Smith, attended Choudhury’s hearing remotely and wished her son’s three killers “a very miserable life.” Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
According to previous testimonials, Amanda and McGuire, who were in a relationship, lived in Indiana and had problems with a vehicle.
Her father and sister drove there to take them to West Virginia. All four were on drugs.
Choudhary said in her sentencing that Larry seduced McGuire into playing a “trust game” in which McGuire’s feet were tied.
“This game of trust was one of the most vicious things I have done difficult,” said assistant prosecutor Dennie Morgan.
Amanda and her biological father had sex and were married three weeks after her boyfriend’s murder in Virginia
When he tried to get out of the tires, Amanda hit him on the head with a bottle of wine, Choudhary said.
Larry testified that McGuire was tortured for three days, starting on Valentine’s Day 2019.
During that time, the victim was tied up and injected with a ‘bad batch’ of homemade methamphetamine.
At one point, he had a black garbage bag over his head and ended up being strangled by Choudhury, McClure said.
McGuire was buried in a shallow grave behind McClure’s house, but days later his body was exhumed, dismembered and reburied in two different places.
Two weeks later, Amanda married her biological father, Larry, and her sister Anna served as best man at their Virginia wedding.
At a hearing in January, Choudhury spoke of the poignant chain of events that led to McGuire’s murder.
She said her sister, their dad, and McGuire had been having fun until Amanda suggested the “ trust game, ” in which she said she would prove she could free herself from “ anything. ”
But Amanda tied John up. At that point, Choudhury told the judge, “things started to get weird.”
They had taken homemade meth, which Choudhury said was not crystallizing properly.
Larry McClure wrote this confession after his arrest in 2019. He will remain in prison for the rest of his life without parole
Once McGuire was tied up, she said their father’s behavior changed.
He sat down and I don’t know, it was a grin I’ll never be able to describe.
But when John sat up and bent over to loosen his feet, it all happened so quickly, but Amanda got up and took that bottle and hit him on the back of the head with it.
And the next thing I know, John got up and was leaning back against the wall with his head tight.
“And then Larry looked at me and told me that if I knew what was best for my children and wanted them to live, I would follow all the instructions given to me from then on,” she told the judge.
Amanda and her father then tortured McGuire by beating him and standing on him.
McGuire’s mother wished her son’s three murderers ‘a very miserable life’
High on homemade liquid meth, they believed he was a federal informer and continued to demand to know ‘who he was.’
McGuire begged them to be who he said he was. Anna Marie says he even repeatedly called them his Social Security number.
At 6 a.m. on Feb. 15, Choudhury said her sister told her to inject McGuire with a syringe of what she thought was truth serum, but in fact the meth.
She did, but instead of killing him, “the drugs made him stronger.”
“They stood over me and told me to finish it and strangle him, so that’s what I did,” Choudhury said.
Larry stood on his back while Choudhury strangled him with a rope.
Once he was dead, she said the couple told her to wrap his body in a garbage bag to bury it. After McGuire was buried, Choudhury said her sister and her father started their romantic relationship.
But Amanda later became paranoid that McGuire wasn’t actually dead and ordered her sister to dig up his body.
To prove that McGuire was really dead, McClure drove “bed nails” through his corpse with a sledgehammer.
In her sentencing last fall, Amanda apologized to McGuire’s mother and begged the court for mercy.
“I have to look at myself every day,” she said. ‘My family didn’t bring me up like that. Not only did I hurt John’s family, I hurt my own family too. ‘
Amanda tried to explain what had happened, accusing her father of being a bad influence on her.
“My dad didn’t want anyone else around me,” she said. John told Larry that he loved me and that we were getting married. I wish I could bring John back. He was a good man. ‘
Some details of the poignant murder and of the incestuous relationship between McClure and his daughter Amanda were revealed during a preliminary hearing before the murder trial in November.
On or about February 14, Mr. John McGuire was hit in the head with a bottle of wine, tied up and then injected with two bottles of methamphetamine. After the injection, he was strangled, ” West Virginia State Police Trooper KM Saddler, the lead investigator in the case, testified at the preliminary hearing.
Larry McClure, was originally arrested for not registering as a sex offender, and later disclosed the location of the body to West Virginia State Police, which was found on September 24, 2019.
A breakthrough in the case came on Nov. 4 when McClure wrote a letter to the police confessing the crime and setting out the gruesome murder.
McClure portrayed his daughter Amanda as the leader of the plot that ordered her sister to kill McGuire.
He said he doesn’t know her motive for the murder, but claimed she spent McGuire’s monthly Social Security checks.
“I can’t tell you why Amanda wanted John McGuire dead,” he said.
‘I ask to let this pass and not to renounce [sic} the taxpayers money and hurting the family members on both sides of this. John McGuires family and my family.’
The criminal complaint revealed Larry and his daughter, who was raised by adoptive parents, had an incestuous relationship and got married just three weeks after the murder.
