The images, published by the newspaper, show a large white and brown dog attacking a much smaller Shiba Inu, who screams and screams in pain.

The Shiba Inu’s owner screams and falls to the ground during the attack before a bystander runs up and begins kicking and punching the larger dog in an attempt to stop it.

The man yells “let go” and “don’t stop” repeatedly as he tries to push the dog away.

Greater Dandenong Council said it had received multiple complaints about dogs at the property and was prosecuting a resident of the home, who is not the victim, over the July attack.

The matter is due to go to court in November.

Following Thursday’s incident, a shirtless man was arrested at the property, but Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia the arrest was not related to the dog attack. No further information was available.
