Woman killed by boyfriend’s erratic driving after ‘clinging to car after argument’

A Los Angeles woman died after being thrown from her boyfriend’s car during a domestic dispute last weekend.

Police say Edgar Gutierrez, 34, and the unidentified victim — who had been together for two years — got into an argument outside a North Hollywood home Saturday afternoon. KTLA reports.

Gutierrez then got into a nearby car, at which point his girlfriend grabbed the vehicle and clung to it as her boyfriend drove away.

“The suspect accelerated to unsafe speeds and drove through several short residential streets, making violent maneuvers to force the victim out of the car,” Los Angeles police said.

She was then thrown from the car and landed on the sidewalk of Willard Street, causing serious head injuries.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition, while Gutierrez fled the scene. according to CBS News.

Gutierrez was eventually located by Burbank police officers the following afternoon and was initially charged with suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

But after the victim succumbed to her injuries on Monday, Gutierrez’s charges were upgraded to attempted murder.

He is now being held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys on a $1 million bond as he awaits arraignment.
