A woman died of serious burns and 14 people were injured during a cookie explosion at a village festival in Germany.

Another five people were in life-threatening condition, four from burns and one who had a heart attack during the explosion at the festival in Freudenberg.

Eyewitnesses said that according to local media, the victims run around like & # 39; torches & # 39; at the Backesfest festival in the West German village.

The age of the victims ranged from 31 to 75, the German news agency dpa reported Monday.

Police said it seems likely that oil in a large frying pan caused the explosion on Sunday that was attended by about 100 people, according to DPA.

The explosion may have been caused by raindrops falling in the hot oil, but researchers said it would take a few days before they fully understood what was happening.
