The Chicago Fire Department was called to The city’s O’Hare airport At around 7:45 a.m. Thursday, a report came in about a woman “caught in machinery.”
Firefighters said she was trapped in the conveyor belt system at Terminal 5. Paramedics pronounced the 57-year-old woman dead at the scene.

Firefighters said she became trapped in the machinery of the conveyor belt system that moves luggage to and from planes.
The area has since been declared a crime scene and turned over to investigators with the Chicago Police Department. Chicago Tribune reported.
Authorities said the part of the airport the woman entered is restricted to employees and while it is considered secure, it is not a high-security area, ABC 7 reported.
This section of the international terminal is lined with conveyor belts that carry luggage to and from planes. Suitcases in this area also go through customs.
Police have not revealed whether they were able to track the woman’s movements after she entered the restricted area.
At around 9am there was a large presence of emergency personnel at the airport.
The woman’s identity has not been released to the public and it is also unclear where she lived or why she was at the airport.
