An Ohio woman was violently murdered after stabbing her abusive boyfriend while trying to defend herself, police said.
Kylene Young, 39, of Columbus, was found dead Monday afternoon in her home on the 2500 block of Harrisburg Pike with multiple stab wounds and her car missing, detectives said.
Young was killed after she and her boyfriend, Tyler Stiers, 23, allegedly got into an argument at the apartment.
In an affidavit to detectives, Stiers admitted to striking her with a “closed fist” before “she stabbed him in the arm in self-defense.”
Stiers said he struck her several more times with his fist before taking the knife from her hand and stabbing her repeatedly.
Stiers was taken into custody the next day after police caught him driving her car through Athens County.
Columbus police were dispatched to Young’s apartment around 1 p.m. Monday to conduct a welfare check, but ultimately needed firefighters to assist in breaching the door.
Once inside, officers found Young unresponsive in the home with multiple stab wounds, according to a criminal complaint.
