One passenger thought she had agreed to the deal of a lifetime until the offer was abruptly rescinded and she was forced to take a humiliating “walk of shame.”
News anchor Frances Wang Frances of NBC 10 Philadelphia posted a TikTok video documenting the “embarrassing” incident when airline staff asked passengers to volunteer to switch to a later flight in exchange for a hefty fee.
The clip begins with her sitting in her seat, covering her mouth and laughing at herself.
“Guys I just had the most embarrassing experience on American Air in front of the entire plane. I’m crying,” she wrote in a text overlay on the clip.
Wang was thrilled when the intercom announced a $1,200 voucher for anyone willing to take a different flight. She jumped at the chance immediately.
“Without even thinking about it, I said, ‘I’m in!'” Wang said. “I’m so excited that as I walk down the aisle, everyone is cheering me on. You’d think I just won a million dollars in a contest.”
News anchor Frances Wang Frances thought she had secured the deal of a lifetime to take a later flight until her offer was met with a humiliating reality check that ended in a “walk of shame” back to her seat.

Frances excitedly arrived at the front of the plane, ready to claim her voucher and disembark. However, her joy turned to disappointment when she learned that another traveler had already taken the voucher.
His seat neighbors even discussed their ordeal in a mini-interview he conducted with other passengers.
One man told her: ‘They encouraged her all the way.’
“She brightened everyone’s day because they experienced her joy and enthusiasm vicariously.”
Another passenger added: “You guys were like ‘eh, nevermind’. She had to walk back down the aisle, a walk of shame. You owe her $1200 plus a refund on her ticket.”
But he didn’t just walk down the aisle once, but several times after forgetting his backpack in another row.
“I had to walk down the hall many times, back and forth, awkwardly,” she said.
The video has garnered over 51,000 likes and has become a viral hit with viewers praising its entertainment value.
The news anchor’s joy turned to disappointment when she learned that the passenger who had been initially kicked out had already taken the voucher, but she made the most of it with her new friends on the plane.
“I love the eyewitness reports,” one user commented, with another saying the video was a “masterpiece with the stranger interviews too.”
“Your travel companions are amazing. They will remember you, best friend,” added a third.
According to its website, American Airlines overbooks flights to avoid empty seats and potential price increases. They often ask passengers to voluntarily give up their seats in exchange for compensation, but in rare cases they may involuntarily deny boarding.
