A woman accused of kidnapping a two-year-old boy from a daycare center in Virginia may have targeted other children in the area before the kidnapping, police say.

Nancy Fridley, 44, was arrested Monday and charged with snatching Noah Gabriel Trout from Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead the day before.

Noah was found safe on Monday afternoon – and with a freshly shaved head – at Fridley’s trailer 75 miles from the church in Clifton Forge, before reuniting with his mother.

The Giles County Sheriff’s office later revealed that Fridley had reportedly been seen outside two other churches in nearby Narrows – New Valley Fellowship Church and Mountain View Ministries – in the weeks leading up to the kidnapping and the day Noah went missing.

“There was another incident that was reported to us sometime around 11:30 am on Sunday,” said Deputy Chief Scott Moye. “She went to another church we believe.”

In a press release, the sheriff’s office said investigators suspect Fridley may have “ shut in other places outside of Giles County to commit similar acts. ”

Police said it appeared that Fridley was randomly targeted by Noah.

“All evidence suggests that this is a stranger kidnapping, and that Noah is randomly chosen by Fridley,” Moye said.

At a news conference, the Giles County Sheriff’s Department said investigators followed an interesting person to a home in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

After supervising there, they found a boy who matched Noah’s description.

Although Noah “seemed fine,” he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Noah disappeared on Sunday and was last taken away by a woman from the nursery at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, near the West Virginia border.

Delegates and the Virginia State Police issued the Amber Alert for Noah at 7 p.m. Sunday, believing the boy is in ‘extreme danger’.

The Church said they have also begun to “explore ways to make our campus and facilities even safer for families who want to come and worship with us.”

“We hope this criminal act on our campus will enable other churches to evaluate their own childcare safety procedures.

“We believe that transparency, child safety and accountability are essential to successful ministry, and we are fully committed to serving your children in a safe and responsible manner,” the statement read.
