One woman took her date’s “cutting off” tactic to the next level by calling 911 while he was at her door and falsely reporting that he was threatening her.

Sumaya Thomas, 18, of North Liberty, Iowa, allegedly “regretted” right before meeting a man she matched with on a dating app.

Instead of canceling the date entirely, she called authorities shortly after midnight on June 16 and made up a scandalous story just to get him off her property.

Thomas made up a story, telling authorities that the man at her door was her abusive ex-boyfriend, whose child she was pregnant with.

She further claimed that he threatened to hit, punch, kick and stab her via text message, according to a sworn declaration obtained by Law&Crime. He also claimed that she had known him for two years.

Instead of canceling the date altogether, she called authorities shortly after midnight on June 16 and fabricated an outrageous story just to get him off her property.

“She reported that he threatened to harm her,” court documents say.

Police encountered the man walking away from the scene. He reportedly told them he had met Thomas a week ago on a dating app. Their communication then moved from the app to text messages.

To back up his claims, the man presented the text conversation to officers, which they confirmed matched his account.

“The conversation demonstrated that he was being honest and that he actually knew the woman,” court documents said.

When police interviewed Thomas, officers said she claimed to have known the man for two years.

She also claimed that she was pregnant with his child and that he had abused her and refused to leave her alone.

After repeated questioning, Thomas finally confessed that he simply “chickened out” and made up the whole story just because he had doubts about the date and simply didn’t want to go through with it.

She also told officers that she falsified the story because she did not believe officers would help her if she explained the real reason she called them.

The unidentified man was detained for more than an hour following Thomas’ false accusations.

The woman was charged with two misdemeanor counts of False Report of an Indictable Crime to a Public Entity and one count of False Report – 911 Call and released from the Johnson County Jail.
