A woman has been accused of murder for allegedly throwing her newborn son into a latrine pit claiming he was still born.

Liliya Riznyk, 31, brought the baby home alone in the village of Zavodivka in the Odessa Oblast region in southern Ukraine.

After giving birth, she put the baby in a plastic bag before taking the boy to a nearby latrine pit and throwing it in, after which she casually bought some alcohol.

As she was interrogated by the police, she said: & [the newborn baby] lay on the floor and did not move. I didn't check if it was still alive.

& # 39; I put it in a yellow plastic bag and threw it in the toilet. & # 39;

This was Riznyk's fourth pregnancy, but only the first child, Svetlana, 14, is still alive and now lives in an orphanage.

The second pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage due to Riznyk & # 39; s heavy alcohol abuse and third saw the child die when it choked after feeding the baby and then putting it in bed.

It is believed that the four children were all conceived by different men

Although Riznyk tried to hide her pregnancy, the local mayor Maksym Kutovyi was alerted to the police.

He said: & # 39; She said she was forced to hide her pregnancy from everyone.

& # 39; So when her belly became flatter and smaller, it looked suspicious and I called the police. & # 39;

When the police raided Riznyk's house, she confessed to throwing the baby into the latrine pit, claiming that he was stillborn, something later refuted by forensic exams, according to local media.

Witness Olena Radko said: & [39] She [Riznyk] smoked and laughed while looking at agents who took the child out of the toilet.

& # 39; I didn't see any signs of regret on her face when they opened the bag and we saw the dead newborn boy inside. She remained totally indifferent.

& # 39; After cutting the umbilical cord, she used the knife without even washing it to make a sandwich. & # 39;
