Officers then went to Fairfield and found Jones with a bullet wound in the stomach. She was rushed to a local hospital.

Later it turned out that Jones was five months pregnant. The fetus did not survive the shooting.

Investigators later discovered that the shooting took place as a result of a dispute between Jones and Ebony Jemison, 23.

When the authorities were unable to secure a charge against Jemison, they decided to file charges against Jones.

& # 39; The investigation showed that the only real victim in this was the unborn baby, & # 39; said Pleasant Grove police Lt. Danny Reid at the time of the shooting.

& # 39; It was the child's mother who initiated and continued the fight that resulted in the death of her own unborn baby. & # 39;

According to Reid, Jones and Jemison had a fight about the father of the baby.

& # 39; Let's not forget that the unborn baby is the victim here, & # 39; Reid said.

& # 39; She had no choice to be unnecessarily put into a fight where she trusted her mother for protection. & # 39;

Jones will be sent back to Jefferson County jail, where she will be detained on a $ 50,000 bond.
