Mrs. Boccalatte died on the spot, despite desperate attempts by emergency services to revive her.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The heartbroken friends said that Ms. Boccalatte had met old classmates from the Burdekin Catholic High School last night to organize a 40th reunion bash for 2019.

Jeanette Garvey described her former classmate as a devoted and loyal friend with a very friendly nature.

We're all just startled … especially so close to Christmas, & # 39; Garvey said to the Townsville Bulletin.

Laurelle was always up to date, she had a list and still sent Christmas cards when everyone had given up the others. & # 39;

The older father of Boccalatte understood that he was recovering from an operation in the hospital at the time of the crash, according to the publication.

& # 39; She was very involved [in the church] … she was here every Sunday, & # 39; said Father Abraham Cheripuram of the parish of St. Colman.

Ayr Police Sergeant Craig Hosie told the Bulletin that the fatal crash was a timely warning for motorists to treat every level crossing as if a train was approaching.
