A 33-year-old woman has died and two people are fighting for their lives after they were crushed in a stampede at a concert in Rochester.

The female victim and eight others were crushed in the stampede during a GloRilla and Finesse2Tymes show at Rochester’s Main Street Armory theater on Sunday night.

They were injured when the crowd mistakenly believed they heard the sound of gunfire amid the loud music and ran for the exits.

Rochester police said no shots were fired at the location, but some in the panicked crowd were injured in the stampede.

“All I know, it was a lot of running. Many people were injured. I see people lying on the ground, as if they are very injured,” said a witness News10NBC.

“It was packed to death. So I knew I had to get out of there,” he added.

Emergency services took a 33-year-old woman and two other victims to hospital by ambulance. The woman died of her injuries, while the two concertgoers are in critical condition.

Six other victims were rushed to hospital in private vehicles – their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
