A Brazilian mother of three still needed reconstructive surgery after a cosmetic procedure resulted in painful gaping wounds on her back.
Angela Pedrosa, 26, suffered dramatic injuries after 300 ml of industrial silicone was injected into her rear in Rio de Janeiro.
She spent more than two months in the hospital after her failed cosmetic surgery, while doctors fought to save her life by removing infected and decomposing tissue.
The treatment left Mrs. Pedrosa with crater-like scars.

On Wednesday, the three-year-old mother was told that she needed further operations to repair the damage and reconstruct her deformed buttocks by transferring fat from parts of her body to create more fullness in her buttock muscles.
This will be Ms. Pedrosa's second Brazilian butt lift procedure, which, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, has an alarming death rate.
Earlier this month, the leading plastic surgeons in Britain announced that they would launch a formal investigation into the safety of this type of cosmetic surgery.
Mrs. Pedrosa, however, had little choice as to what she could do because the deforming dents in her buttocks left her in constant pain and destroyed her self-esteem.

The mother of three has now been told that she needs further surgery to repair the damage and to reconstruct her deformed buttocks
Last month, plastic surgeons removed fat deposits from the thighs of the mother of the three under liposuction to rebuild her bottom.
But the operation did not go according to plan and doctors were alarmed when some of the transplanted deposits were rejected and started to rot.
The procedure also left her with a crooked back because & # 39; the left cheek needs more filler & # 39 ;, surgeons said.
The follow-up surgery extracts extra fat from her belly and must equalize the shape of her hair. This operation has now been postponed while recovering from the first.
