A man has been accused of murder after a chase and a fatal crash claiming the life of a father on a southern NSW highway.
Police say a Ford area was driving on the Princes Highway, south of Wollongong, when it hit a gasoline tanker at about 2:20 am on Saturday.
Daniel Merrett, 27 – also known as Daniel Clulow – died on the spot.
The 25-year-old female driver, presumably Mr Merrett's sister, and two other passengers – a man and a woman also 25 years old – were rushed to the hospital where they remained stable.

Researchers believe the Ford Territory SUV was being chased by a silver Toyota Corolla when it hit the truck.
Detectives started a search for Toyota occupants and arrested two people on Wednesday afternoon – Andrew Russell, 34, and a 25-year-old woman.
The man was charged with murder and armed robbery. He was refused on bail to appear at the local court in Gosford on Thursday.
The woman was accused of a large number of crimes that were not related to the crash and was also given the guarantee to appear in the same court.
The police are still looking for Darren Butler, 27, and 25-year-old Holly Green.

Members of the public are encouraged not to approach them but to call Crime Stoppers.
It is claimed that Mr. Merrett and the three others in the Ford area had been involved in a party confrontation earlier in the night.
Green is sought for lower costs, while Butler has an order issued by the police for murder.
Family and friends went to social media on Tuesday to share their grief about what would have been Mr. Merrett's birthday.

A GoFundMe page was set up by one of Mr. Merrett's childhood friends, Joe Louis, to help his young family with funeral arrangements.
& # 39; I have taken the initiative to make this GoFundMe explicitly to help Kat and the girls get back on track with some financial help & # 39 ;, wrote Louis.
& # 39; I have always promised Daniel that I would have his back, and if the inevitable happened, I would make sure that the twins Kaydence and Kyarni would be fine. & # 39;
