Three teenagers have been arrested after a car accident in which a woman suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries.

Police rushed to Canewdon, Essex at around 1.50am today after a black Ford Fiesta pulled off the road and pulled into a ditch.

One woman, 18, remains in hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” while three others in the car are reported to have suffered no serious injuries.

Essex police said it was attempting to locate a fifth passenger they said was in the vehicle at the time of the collision “but had left the scene.”

Three 17-year-olds, two boys and a girl, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries from dangerous driving after the accident.

The road remains closed and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 85 of 03/04.

A police spokesman said: ‘Three 17-year-olds – two boys and a girl – have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries from dangerous driving in connection with this morning’s collision.

“We keep looking for another woman who we think was in the car but left the scene.

A black Ford Fiesta is said to have left the Creeksea Ferry Road around 1.50am and crashed into a ditch.

A teenager inside has suffered life-threatening injuries. The road is closed.

“Three other people in the car wouldn’t have been seriously injured.”
