However, the playmaker is a man rejuvenated since joining Imanol Alguacil’s side. Odegaard had fans purring earlier this week with a remarkable assist in his side’s 3-0 rout of Alaves in La Liga.

And those performances haven’t passed the attention of Nuno Espirito Santo, who is looking to bolster his attacking options following a slow start to their Premier League campaign.

It is believed that chiefs at the Bernabeu are willing to listen to offers in the region of £20million for the youngster, a price Wolves can match with their considerable backing from the Fosun group.

Wolves are likely to face stiff competition for Odegaard’s signature if the midfielder is available for that sum.

A win against Watford on Saturday means confidence is high for Nuno’s side heading into their second Europa League group game against Besiktas, with both sides looking to get their campaign up and running.
